I have a few different, separate email accounts at yahoo. Off and on, I have trouble accessing one of them. It always happens with the same account. I will try to get my email from it and get a time out. Then, I will get my email from the other accounts, no problem. Try the troubled one again and time out.

Why would only one account be affected?

Is the one you're having trouble accessing an old one that you haven't used recently? I only ask because Y! has a minimum 3 (or is it 6?) mos. activity stipulation before automatically deactivating your acct. You can re-activate it again simply by logging into it but any stored files or unread emails will be lost.

Don't bother writing to the Y! help desk because all you get are canned answers (most of which have little to do with your actual question).

I'm just wondering if the timing out has to do with the program searching for you info and its just taking too long if you haven't accessed it in awhile. Other than that I don't know what else to tell you unless its a password error? I've had that happen to me before and it took forever for it to FINALLY come up with the page telling me of the password error instead of just giving me a timed-out msg.

Nope, not an old account. It's one I use almost daily. It's only used for emailing about genealogy and emails to/from a relative with a .gov addy (not an important one, by the way, but I wanted to keep it on a separate account). It usually only takes 3-5 seconds before it "times out"--I'm on dial up so that's a very reasonable time and wouldn't normally time me out on anything. Password is correct, typed in very carefully after the first time of not getting in. Let me clarify: It does log me in and let me access other parts of my account but won't let me into my email. So definitely not a password problem. This afternoon's problem is one of the longest-lasting, hours later and still happening only on that one account.

This really stinks as I have been waiting on a couple of emails there today.

booger, try going to http://www.mail2web.com and see if you can access your yahoo email acct. in question from there. Its FREE plus NO registration, INSTANT access, generic place to pick up all mail. I've used it for years when in a pinch to get any of my mail, from anywhere!

Thanks, Sage! That doesn't work for any of my email accounts. It just sits there, going nowhere for 5 minutes, then comes up with a "document contains no data".

Was finally able to get my email about 20 minutes ago.

YAY!!! hope the emails you were waiting on were included in the batch you were finally able to access today so you don't have to go through another long wait.

The link I gave you works for all my various email addys and it pulls them up quickly (asst'd accts. not all same) but when I tried it just now for my yahoo one it did the same thing you said - 5 mins. of doing nothing only to return no info. Perhaps Y! isn't compatible with their server? I know mail2web recently added G- mail so maybe Y! mail will be coming soon.

Sorry to get your hopes up for nothing. But keep the url handy in your head for other accts. to use in a pinch.
