My smilies have disappeared from my posting screen.

Hmm...

Do you still see them in threads? Are other graphics present? Change anything recently?

everything 'north' of the posting box has disappeared from the posting screen.

I did some editing of my user CP a while ago, maybe I changed something that made them go away.

I figure one of my three pop-up killers gets triggered when I click it, because I hear that little "pop".

You had accidentally turned them off in your options page. :)
