Hi all, first post here

Thanks bipshoft, glad my pic encouraged you to make your first post... welcome! :)
I live up in Vermont... do southern flying squirrels come up this far north? I don't really know what that guy is. He's actually wild -- he got into my house and ran around for a while before we (live) trapped him.
Kids fell instantly in love and want one as a pet. Maybe this summer. :)

If you do keep his as a pet, a0, you'll have to convince the kids to name him Rocky (Bullwinkle's side-kick...he was a flying squirrel...wore a WWI soft style aviator cap) Not that I'm old enough to remember watching the show - it's just what I've heard

thx lulu, I'll run those pix by those from whom I've heard of such things. They sure would bring back memories IF they'd been from my era. :ll:

Rocky (Bullwinkle's side-kick...he was a flying squirrel...wore a WWI soft style aviator cap)
Great memories of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show. "Eeny meenie chili beanie, the spirits are about to speak..." "Fractured Fairy Tales." "Dudley Doo Right." "Mr. Sherman and Peabody." "Fan mail from some flounders?"
My dad would sit down next to me, watch it, and laugh his butt off.
I do the same with my kids and SpongeBob now.

OT Since it seems you all are old enough to barely remember Rocky and Bullwinkle; what was Dudley Doright's horse's name? Nell's father's name was?

Don't recall horse's name or that of Nell's father but the dasterdly villian was Snidley Whiplash wasn't it? Or so I've "heard" :D
Yep, that is a flying squirrel and they are so cute. :)

Nell Fenwick's father -- Inspector Fenwick.
His horse -- Horse.

We have family of flying squirrels that live in the Oak tree in my back yard. Last year the mother (this happened in day light hours!) was trying to carry her baby back inside the tree hole (nest). The baby was almost as big as she was. She was holding him side ways and worked and worked to get him back inside. Then She dropped him accidently! He hit the ground and she was right behind him. Picked him up and this time managed to get him back inside the nest. It was so awesome watching her. I see them out at night on my bird feeders eating cracked corn, but that was the only time I had seen one in the day time.
