I stumbled across this website while doing an image search. The whole subsection on the Salpa line is amazing. I'd never heard of most of these fortifications before. While probably impractical for a personal shelter, I'd love to have my own personal pillbox!

When I was stationed in Germany during the '70's, I often went out exploring old grown-over bunkers and abandoned underground military sites. Guess I still haven't outgrown the fascination.

Enjoy.

Why don't you just put up a billboard that says, "I've got something worth stealing!"

Heh, true, but, there remains the fact that "you" have to take (whatever is worth stealing) from "them"... That might prove hard to do... ;)

Sometimes the best offense is a good defense. You can try to hide your place. (Not all that easy) Or you can make it seem like it is not worth the effort that would be required to take.. Perhaps the best would be a blend of both where your place was much more "hardened " that is appeared. I would like to have a "bunker" to hunker in, but can't afford to build one.

I killed a good chunk of time on that web site.
Interesting stuff.
Thanks for posting that.
