Flu shot anyone? Supply grows, but demand withers
SEATTLE (AP) _ Given a choice, who really wants to get a flu shot?

Despite the recent vaccine shortage, health officials in some parts of the country have been reporting plenty of extras. Some are now relaxing their distribution rules to get rid of the shots.

In recent months, people stood in line for hours to get a flu shot. But demand is dwindling now that more vaccine is available.

Health officials hope demand is dropping because the shots have reached those most in need, like babies, the elderly and the chronically ill. But they acknowledge that other factors might be at work -- including apathy.

One official in Washington state says reports on the flu season's mild start also may have played a role.

Federal officials say that while the shots may be plentiful in some areas, there are still places where people are desperate for the vaccine.

I'd LOVE to see states where vax is plentiful & not in demand arrange to sell it to states where the high risk groups are simply clamouring for shots.

I suspect, in spite if the initial fears - you'll end the season with flu vax left over. Let's hope the season stays light.
