Next month human testing will begin on the new technology H5N1 human vaccine in January. If all goes well, they hope to go into commercial production within 6-7 months. 2 companies some time hack had gotten the contract to produce lots of trial vax - Chiron & Aventis. They're now ready to start testing.

I know the CDC had pre-ordered 2 million doses from Aventis - not sure if they have any of it yet or are waiting for testing to be complete. If they're smart - the latter.

The WHO point out that even if vax compabies started cranking out pandemic strain flu vax almost immediately, there would still not be enough for the whole world. That's underdstating things. A year's production run would reult in enough flu vax for roughly 4.8% of the world's population.

O know there was something new about the way this seed strain is being produced & I know I have that info - but think I can remember or find it right now? lol

Gimme a bit.
